Lo Stella is a historically famed Italian restaurant that’s roots trace back to the oldest and most successful family owned restaurant operation in Portofino, Italy. Lo Stella Ristorante in Denver is led by 8th generation family member - Alessandro Polo.

We started off the meal with a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Scaia (Veneto, Italy). You cannot enjoy authentic Italian food without some great wine to go along with it! This wine was ruby red with some violet coloring. The flavor was soft and warming with hints of blackberry, redcurrant and cherry. A perfect wine to pair with pasta!

Leonardo was our server and he was amazing! He recommended which apps and pasta our table should order and he hit it out of the park!

For Antipasti, we had the Prosciutto e Burrata which is a Pairing of Charcuterie and Cheese Assortment.

This burrata was perfection! It had that wonderful mild, creamy flavor of a solid burrata and had a nice sprinkle of salt and oil drizzled on top. The burrata was rich and buttery without being too indulgent. The prosciutto had a sweet meaty flavor with a pleasant edge of saltiness. Each piece of prosciutto had a great brownish-red color and was delicately streaked with fat. 10/10

For our Pasta dishes, we chose the Spaghetti "alla Puppo" and the Pasta "Cacio e Pepe" condita nella forma di Pecorino Romano.

The Spaghetti "alla Puppo" is Spaghetti with Nonno Puppo's marinara recipe, crispy garlic and red pepper flakes. YOU GUYS. THIS SPAGHETTI. Hands down the BEST spaghetti I have ever had. I seriously have not been able to stop thinking about it and we're going back to Lo Stella for dinner tomorrow so I can stuff my face with more. The sauce had a stellar tomato flavor and was very fresh and bright - it had the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness from the tomatoes and freshness from the basil. The red pepper flakes added a beautiful (yet subtle) spice to the pasta.

The Pasta "Cacio e Pepe" condita nella forma di Pecorino Romano is Pasta "Cacio e Pepe" tossed in the wheel-cheese of Pecorino Romano. The "Cacio e Pepe" was delish. This pasta was creamy, salty and had a nice sharp pepper taste.
