The Brown Palace, Atrium

The Brown Palace is an iconic Denver establishment, and we knew we wanted to grab drinks & a bite to eat there after getting tickets for a show at the Paramount Theatre. The Brown Palace is only a 3-minute walk from Paramount so cocktails & apps in The Brown Palace’s Atrium, were the perfect pre-show treat.

The Brown Palace

We arrived and were seated at a table in the Atrium. The Brown Palace’s Atrium was stately & grand - a large American flag graced the open space above our heads along with a lovely stained-glass ceiling. The resident pianist, John Kite entertained us with live music. John is a phenomenal musician & entertainer - he kept everyone engaged with song requests, his beautiful playing & voice, and some historical stories about The Brown Palace sprinkled in between songs. General Manager Kent & our server Hiwat were friendly & attentive - they ensured we had everything we needed while we dined.

The Cucamelon Cooler was made with Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint, melon liqueur, lime, Chandon Brut, & winter mellon bitters. This cocktail was a refreshing sipper with subtle notes of ripe melon, a hint of citrus, and a gentle herbaceousness.

The Refresh (a non-alcoholic drink option) was made with seedlip grove, rosemary, lime, & ginger beer. The seedlip grove provided a warm, citrusy base with the ginger beer bringing in nice bubbles.

The Crab Cake was made with lump crab and served alongside remoulade sauce. The crab cake was a generous portion of sweet crab meat that topped creamy remoulade sauce - delicious & satisfying.

The Lobster Tater Tumblers were 3 large tots served with lemon herb aioli. This was a unique and appreciated twist on traditional tater tots, featuring lobster meat and aioli. The large tots had crispy, golden-brown exteriors that gave way with a satisfying crunch to a hot, fluffy interior with fine lobster flaked throughout. An indulgent app that combined the comfort of tater tots with the luxury of lobster.

The Caviar Deviled Eggs were served on a silver tray with caviar topping each half egg. The deviled eggs were classic & creamy. The addition of the caviar added a touch of sophistication and pop of salty flavor to the velvety yolk filling.

The Whipped Goat Cheese Dip came with fried brussels sprouts & house-made bread. The tangy goat cheese dip paired well with the savory, slightly bitter notes of the brussels sprouts and the soft, absorbent texture of the bread.

For dessert we had the Cookies n Cream Cheesecake. The cheesecake had Oreo crust swirled throughout and was topped with whipped cream, two chocolate cigarettes and then plated with chocolate sauce. This is one of the best cheesecakes we’ve had in Denver!
