Niman Ranch Mountaintop Tasting, Taste of Vail

Held at 10,350 feet above sea level, the Niman Ranch Mountaintop Tasting at the Taste of Vail was the crème de la crème of outdoor tastings. The event offered spectacular mountain views accompanied by gourmet food, wine, & spirits.

I took the Eagle Bahn Gondola up to Eagle’s Nest where the event was held. It was a beautiful spring day in the mountains - 40 degrees & sunny. Ross met me at the top of the gondola; he had been skiing all morning. We headed into the event and grabbed a table. There was live music, igloos, & great vibes all around.

Each participating restaurant served up their best variation of Niman Ranch grass-fed beef. My favorite was the shredded beef from Restaurante Icú. Ross really liked the beef meatball & focaccia from REVEL.

Once we had our fill, we made our way into the wine tent.

We sampled so many great wines including several from Carboy Winery. Their sparkling wine, La Crescent was crisp and refreshing (reminiscent of a beer).
