Daughter Thai
Looking for the best Thai food in Denver? Look no further. Daughter Thai Kitchen & Bar continues to hold this title for me and always lives up to expectations.
Our mixologist Miguel was a star behind the bar (per usual); he whipped up several seasonal cocktails that tasted just as good as they look.
The Daughter Smile was made with Olmeca Altos Blanco, Lime, Ginger, Lemongrass, Orange, and Thai Chili. This is a classic Daughter Thai cocktail that we always order.
The cocktail was clear & bright on the tongue with subtle highlights of spicy ginger & chili. The taste was enhanced by aromas of orange & lemongrass.
The Lean Green Machine was made with basil, aloe, cucumber, and white rum.
This was my favorite cocktail of the evening; the Lean Green Machine was refreshing and immediately hit the nose with basil & cucumber. It was a smooth sipper with velvety mouthfeel.
For Small Plates we had the Vegetarian Crispy Roll & the Morrakot Crab Wontons.
The Vegetarian Crispy Rolls were made with silver noodles, shitake mushrooms, carrot, cabbage, & served with sweet & sour sauce.
The rolls had a beautiful golden crisp shell and were packed with fresh flavor & savory aromatic veggies. The rolls went perfectly with the sweet & sour sauce.
The Morrakot Crab Wontons were made with vegetable wonton wraps with Mascarpone and Cream cheese, imitation crab meat, green onion, & served with house sweet and sour sauce.
The wontons were so good we got a second order - their crisp green exteriors gave way to sweet, fluffy cream cheese with a distinct savory note from the crab.
From the Classic Thai Kitchen we had the Pad Thai Prawn. The Pad Thai was made with stir-fried rice noodles with prawns, egg, bean sprouts, chives, ground peanuts. This is the best you will ever put in your mouth.
The stir-fried rice noodles were piping hot and had the perfect balance of sweet and sour taste. The peanuts added great crunch against the soft chew of the saucy noodles. A must order!
From the Daughter's Kitchen we had the Crab Fried Rice made with jumbo chunk crab meat, egg, white onion and green onion.
The fried rice was characterized by a delicate seafood flavor with the lump crab being the star of the show.
For dessert we had Mochi Ice Cream and a selection of Strawberry & Green Tea.
The mochi ice cream is ice cream surrounded by sweetened mochi dough; the strawberry was my favorite.
Big thanks to Daughter Thai & Larry Herz for hosting us!
