Toro, Latin Kitchen & Lounge, Brunch
Toro specializes in Pan-Latin Cuisine & brings upscale Latin flair to Cherry Creek. The girls & I had a great brunch here over the weekend.
Toro is located in Hotel Clio & has free valet parking. We arrived at Toro & we were seated in the main dining room. The aesthetic of Toro is South American casual (yet sophisticated) & the restaurant has a lovely outdoor patio.
Our server Meagan was sweet, attentive and came with great recommendations for the entire table.
For cocktails we had the Mercado Margarita & the Pina Mezcalita. We enjoyed our cocktails out on the patio.
The Mercado Margarita is made with tanteo jalapeño tequila, passion fruit lime, agave nectar & hibiscus-rosemary foam. This was one of Meagan's recommendations and is Toro’s most popular cocktail.
Just look at that beautifully colored margarita - pink & red with touches of yellow. Upon first sip, the hibiscus rosemary foam was the first flavor I tasted - it gave the margarita a nice lemony tart, cranberry-like flavor. Once through the foam, the marg’s spicy sweetness started coming though. We loved this drink!
The Pina Mezcalita is made with el silencio espadin, ancho reyes, agave nectar lime, pineapple & sal de gusano.
The lime & pineapple both blended well with the El Silencio mezcal's agave notes & smokiness
For starters we had the Colorado Bison Filet Anticucho, the Al Pastor Pork Belly Tacos and the Ceviche Amarillo.
The Colorado Bison Filet Anticucho is served with peruvian aji adobo, chimichurri & charred corn salad.
The Colorado Bison Anticucho had an explosion of gamey flavor & was nice and tender. The aji adobo & chimichurri added spice and tang to the bison.
The Al Pastor Pork Belly Tacos are served with yuzu avocado sauce.
The pork belly was salty and chewy in texture. The yuzu avocado sauce was creamy and added nice tang to the pork.
The Ceviche Amarillo is made with ahi tuna, aji amarillo, mango, cucumber & red onion.
The Ceviche Amarillo was light & bright - delightfully acidic on the tongue. The aji amarillo had floral and fruity notes that complemented the fresh ahi tuna.
For specialties we had the Enchiladas Rojas. The Enchiladas Rojas are made with corn tortilla, chicken, crema, salsa roja & chihuahua cheese.
The Enchiladas Rojas were coated in tasty red sauce and filled with shredded chicken & melty cheese. They were warm and flavorful and the red sauce had a bold red pepper taste. The enchiladas were my favorite of the meal.
Big thanks to Toro, Meagan & Hanae Reith for hosting us!
Check it out babes and let them know that denv.her. sent you! xx
