Băo Brewhouse
Looking for a hype & sexy spot to kick-start your weekend into high gear? Băo Brewhouse is it!
We arrived at Băo Brewhouse and headed upstairs to the Tea Room for dinner. The downstairs of Băo Brewhouse is a Tap Room where you can enjoy Chinese speciality street food & libations. The upstairs of Băo Brewhouse is a Tea Room that offers authentic Chinese dishes & a DJ that spins Thursday - Sunday. Băo Brewhouse is one of the few restaurants in Denver that has a DJ spin during dinner - & we love it! The DJ ramps up all the good vibes & energy for a night out on the town. We had such a fun dinner.
The aesthetic of Băo Brewhouse’s Tea Room is full of Chinese character with lucky red lanterns & lighting throughout. The main focal point in the Tea Room is a red paper lantern chandelier that descends down to the first floor - it’s beautiful. We were seated in one of the intimate booths in the main dining room.
Diego was our server and he was awesome! He was fun, fast, professional & very well versed in the menu. Diego advised us on what dim sum starters & entrees we should order - his recommendations were stellar.
We started off our meal with cocktails - I had the For Our Friends. The For Our Friends is made with mezcal, almond, grapefruit, blackberry, lime, & shaken.
Just look at that beautiful pink color! The For Our Friends had a smoky, sultry flavor that was made light & fruity by the grapefruit, blackberry, & lime. An excellent summer sipper.
Kenzy had the Enter The Dragon. The Enter The Dragon is made with tequila, jalapeno, chartreuse, lime, & shaken.
The Enter The Dragon packed great, subtle spice from the jalapeño peppers & zesty lime.
Barbara & Lizzy had Frozen in Thyme. The Frozen in Thyme is made with vodka, coconut rum, thyme, lemon, white tea, & shaken.
The Frozen in Thyme had the fresh taste of white tea that was complemented kindly by thyme - so refreshing & perfect after a long day of work.
For Dim Sum Starters we had the Cheese Rangoon with Colossal Crab, Kobe Beef Short Rib Dumplings, Shrimp Shum-mai and Ev-ery Thing Mushroom Dumplings.
The Cheese Rangoon with Colossal Crab is made with colossal crab, pineapple sweet & sour, chile, scallion, cilantro, fesno chile, & superior spicy chile crisp.
Hello cripsy wonton goodness! The cheese rangoons were filled with piping hot, fluffy, creamy cheese and topped with a piece of sweet crab. Delicious - the rangoons were Barbara's favorite.
The Kobe Beef Short Rib Dumplings are made with braised kobe beef, short rib and miso mongolian sauce.
SO. MUCH. YES. These steamed dumplings were stuffed with savory, tender beef and the marinade of miso mongolian sauce was everything. The mongolian sauce was a mouthwatering combo of soy sauce, brown sugar & miso - a game changing flavor enhancer. The texture of the dumplings were slippery & chewy as they absorbed the flavorful sauce. The Kobe Beef Short Rib Dumplings were Kenzy, Lizzy and I's favorite starter.
The Shrimp Shum-mai are made with crispy onion, red tobiko, cilantro, scallion, tamari truffle soy, and shaved bonito flake.
The shrimp shu-mai had an appetizing balance of flavor and texture - they were perfect little dim sum bites.
The Ev-ery Thing Mushroom Dumplings are made with shiitake mushrooms, garlic, scallions, sesame seeds, mushroom dashi sauce, crispy onions, & furikake seasoning.
The Mushroom dumplings had a nice deep, meaty & earthy flavor from the shiitake mushrooms.
For Entrees we had the Half Peking Duck, the Short Rib Spicy Noodles and the Garlic Fried Rice with Soft Shell Crab.
The Half Peking Duck is made with crispy duck, bao buns, vegetables, & plum sauce.
The duck was sweet and crispy. Pieces of the duck were nicely carved out for us and we put 2 slices of meat into the bao buns to enjoy. The fluffy Chinese steamed buns paired perfectly with the sweet, fatty meat of the duck.
The Short Rib Spicy Noodles are made with lup cheong, garlic, ginger, scallion, baby bok-choy, blistered fesno chile, thai basil, pistachio, & superior spicy chile crisp.
A noodle-y wonder featuring tender short rib chunks and a rich broth - this entree was sweet, spicy & savory.
The Garlic Fried Rice with Soft Shell Crab is made with garlic fied rice, edamame, scallion, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeño, baby bokchoy, blistered shishitos, & treasure aioli.
The Garlic Fried Rice with Soft Shell Crab was extremely tasty with a natural sweetness from the crab and a richness from the eggs. The savory treasure aioli coated the fried rice nicely and the jalepeno and blistered shishitos brought out spice.
For Shared Sides we had the Baby Bokchoy & Shishitos.
What a delish take on veggies with a hint of spice!
Huge thanks to Băo Brewhouse, Diego and Tessa for hosting us! We will be back soon!
