Chapter 5, Breakdown in Breck, Part 1

Gary & Lauren went on a trip to visit his family out of state. While they were there, Gary openly fought with Lauren in front of his family. Lauren relayed the following to me after:

If everything that had happened thus far with Gary wasn't suspect enough - here was his family confirming, this is how he has ALWAYS behaved.

This is a personality.

This is who this person is.

Our friend group was lucky enough to not have to see Gary for a couple of months following the incident in Fort Collins. But soon, November rolled around and we all were going to be thrust together again. It was one of our friend’s birthdays and we were taking a trip up to Breckenridge to celebrate. This was going to be the last chance we gave Gary to prove he wasn't a total POS.

On Saturday morning up in Breckenridge, we all get ready and head out to brunch. This was during Covid so our group had to be separated into two tables (pandemic group size regulations and all); so we split off into girls & guys. Bottomless mimosas abounded.

The guys go up to the bar and Gary starts harassing the female bartender:

"Hey. HEY,

BEER WENCH.

BEER WENCH. I want another drink."

Our guy friends immediately tell Gary to knock it off.

He persists:

"BEER WENCH!"

The bartender reluctantly comes over to serve Gary and gives him much deserved attitude. This provokes Gary and he YELLS the following to the group while the bartender goes to get his drink:

"SHE must be on her PERIODDDD!"

The bartender comes back and reaches around Gary to set his drink down. Gary flails backwards and shoves his elbow into the bartender.

One of our guy friends had, had enough:

"DUDE.

CHILL TF OUT AND SIT TF DOWN. YOU JUST HIT HER."

Gary retorts:

"DID SHE DESERVE IT?!!"

The guys were done with Gary; they close out on their bar tab and head back to the Airbnb.

Back at the house, we all decide to get in the hot tub. My sister comes out and is getting into the tub when one of our girlfriends exclaims:

"NO men look; but Trez your boobs look AH-MAZING!!"

None of the men look...

except for Gary. (but let’s be real, we can’t even consider Gary a man at this point)

Gary whips his head towards Treslyn

and blatantly STARES at her chest.

At this piggish display of behavior, Lauren is understandably furious. But instead of handling the situation like an adult and dealing with her boyfriend issues elsewhere, she begins her silent treatment.

& at the forefront of being ignored, Gary begins to ESCALATE.
