Ocean Prime, DTC

Ocean Prime is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Colorado and we were ecstatic when we were invited in for dinner!

Ocean Prime DTC is located off of Belleview and Ulster - in the heart of the Denver Tech Center. This location is the largest Ocean Prime location to date. The location boasts an exquisite bar, patio, dining room, & multiple private dining rooms.

The aesthetic is sleek and modern - dark woods and black iron light fixtures grace the dining area. The wine wall upon entrance is grand and a serious visual statement to the wine selection available at the restaurant. There is a variety of seating types ranging from spacious booths to smaller, more intimate tables.

You can always expect stellar service when dining at Ocean Prime & the DTC location has an exemplary staff and management team. Shout out to the General Manager and Dining Room manager, Travis Cusack for making us feel so welcome! Most members of the Ocean Prime team we met at dinner had been with the company for some time - tenure in the restaurant industry speaks volumes of how Ocean Prime takes care of their staff, which then translates into the staff taking care of the customers! Big thanks to our server Trenton Nalepa for leading us through a phenomenal meal!

Our dinner started with a hot bread basket - the pretzel bread was amazing!

For cocktails, we ordered the Berries & Bubbles. Berries & Bubbles are made with Belvedere Citrus, Crème De Cassis, House Made Sour, Domaine Carneros Brut, & Dry Ice. I LOVE THIS DRINK.

The Berries & Bubbles are not overly sweet or tart which makes for easy drinking. They’re refreshingly complex, balanced & oh so pretty - truly everything you could in a cocktail. You can’t dine at Ocean Prime and not order a Berries & Bubbles; it's Ocean Prime's most photographed item across the country and upon presentation & one sip you'll see why!

For starters we had the Oysters on the Half Shell, Chilled Crab Meat Cocktail and Ocean Roll.

The Oysters on the Half Shell were fresh AF and delicious. We had 3 East Coast and 3 West Coast. The East had a beautiful salinity to them and the West were succulently (yet subtly) sweet.

The Chilled Crab Meat Cocktail was served in a silver goblet on dry ice - talk about presentation! This starter tasted as good as it looked. The generous lumps of crab meat were fresh, sweet and delicate. We dipped the lumps of crab in Ocean Prime's Crab Louie sauce and our taste buds were singing.

The Ocean Roll is made with #1 Tuna, Salmon, Hamachi, Avocado, and Chili Garlic Oil.

This sushi roll was fabulous and we’ll definitely be ordering it again in the future! The combination of the tuna, salmon and hamachi made for a lovely trilogy of fresh fish. We also loved the slight spice and crunch of the chili garlic oil topping!

For entrees, we had the Chilean Sea Bass and the seasonal Pacific Halibut

The Chilean Sea Bass is made with Whipped Potatoes, & Champagne Truffle Sauce.

The sea bass was perfection. It had a smooth buttery taste and melted in our mouths. The truffle sauce and whipped potatoes were rich and savory additions to this sinfully delicious entree. This is one of Ocean Prime's best entrees and if you have never had it, YOU MUST!

The Seasonal Pacific Halibut is made with Spring Peas, Fava Beans, Wild Mushrooms, Fennel, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, & Yellow Tomato Vinaigrette.

The halibut had a gentle sweetness to it and paired very well with the bold and bright taste of the fennel and yellow tomato vinaigrette. The halibut had a firm but tender texture and was very lean. The composition of the fish complemented the light snap of the spring peas. This is a great spring/summer dish.

For sides we had the Lobster Mac & Cheese.

The combination of the sweet lobster and ultra creamy macaroni was amazing! This is my favorite side to order at Ocean Prime.

For dessert we had the Mile High Carrot Cake. The Carrot Cake is made with Cream Cheese Icing And Pineapple Syrup.

The carrot cake was sweet and had an ultra-fine spice to it. The warm spice of the cinnamon and nutmeg went amazingly with the subtle fruity backdrop of pineapple syrup. The cream cheese frosting was ultra-creamy. This carrot cake sets the standard for carrot cakes everywhere. Ocean Prime's carrot cake is the best in town.
