My Neighbor Felix
My Neighbor Felix is the new "hotspot" Mexican Restaurant and bar in The Highlands. They're definitely drawing in a crowd and I'm going to chalk that up to the massive margs they offer - the food is just ok.
We went to Felix for Brunch and started out with a mimosa tower. The Mimosa tower is made with “2 bottles of Brut champagne”...but I highly doubt that lol - it seemed like A LOT more OJ than champs. The four of us finished the entire tower and didn't really feel a buzz so we probably will refrain from ordering another one of these in the future.
After the Mimosa tower we switched to skinny margs. The margs were standard.
For shareables, the table split the Queso Fundido Skillet.
The Queso is made with oaxaca cheese, ranchero cheese, jalapeno, caramelized onions, cilantro, house-made goddess hibiscus chips. The queso is tasty but you are forewarned that it comes out HOT AF. I burned the shit out of the top of my mouth #oops.
For our mains, Emily and I had the Egg Quesadilla.
The Egg Quesadilla is made with scrambled eggs, queso trio, adobo sauce, cilantro, flour tortilla, salsa roja, and is SUPPOSED to be served with poblano breakfast potatoes….we didn't get any side potatoes like the menu specified lol - but the quesadilla was alright.
Marci had the Tacos.
The Tacos are served with charred lime and your choice of salsa (roja or verde). Marci said the tacos were fine.
Taryn had the Cochinita Pibil Benedict.
The Benedict is made with slow-braised yucatecan pork, poached eggs, achiote hollandaise, red onion curtido, jalapeno, cilantro, served with poblano breakfast potatoes. The benedict was disappointing as it came out cold.
Final verdict? Hit up My Neighbor Felix for the margs and maybe grab food elsewhere.
