DC PIE CO. is Denver’s answer to Brooklyn brick-oven, thin-crust pizza.
The cozy pizzeria caters to families, couples and business patrons alike, introducing new technology “Pop Up and Pay menus at the table”™, merging the fine dining and quick service experience. Owned by Dominic Cavagnuolo and Operating Partner Mary Zayaruzny.
We had the privilege of meeting Mary Zayaruzny while we dined and she was absolutely lovely - her passion for the restaurant was evident through our entire meal and we had so much fun with her and the DCP staff.
Spring is in full swing at DCP and their lovely patio is now open for business - along with opening their patio doors, they have launched weekday lunch service on Thursdays and Fridays and have also launched a homegrown soda and spritz program that pairs taste buds to spring flavors.
The Spring Spritz menu has several refreshing spiked soda flavors to choose from and we were more than ready to get buzzing:
Blueberry + Basil - Breckenridge Gin
Cucumber Mint - St. Germain
Raspberry + Lime - Aperol
Basil + Lemon - Campari
Jalapeno + Citrus - Mescal & St. Germain
$4 - soda, $8 - spritz, $18 16 oz carafe.
The Raspberry Lime Spritz is the current customer go-to with freshly-picked raspberry, Aperol, zesty lime and Prosecco, while the Citrus Jalapeno Spritz is an industry favorite, with Mezcal, St Germain, Prosecco, lemon, lime and the perfect amount of heat from the jalapeño.
We went for the Raspberry + Lime, the Basil + Lemon and the Jalapeno + Citrus carafes to start.
All three were delicious but my favorite had to be the Raspberry + Lime! Most of the group favored the Jalapeno + Citrus as it had a super unique smokey taste.
Owner Dominic Cavagnuolo said the following about their new soda and spritz program - “Here at DC PIE CO., we consistently strive to utilize the freshest of ingredients, and that’s what our homemade soda and spritz program is all about. Spring and summer flavors comprised of fresh, ripe blueberry, basil, lemon zest, crisp cucumber and lime sourced from local producers. Our sodas and spritzes mimic our food menu, in that these warm weather cocktails are all about simple recipes and fresh fixings."
With the patio doors ajar, DC PIE CO. is now serving pizza outdoors along with the option to sit at one of nine patio tables outside under bright sun umbrellas - guests can also dine indoors at one of the many tables that line the large windows that completely open to the fresh air. Parking is still a synch with a reserved lot for patrons in the back.
We started our meal with the ultimate crowd pleasers -
The Kale Caesar and Wings.
DROOL.
Then bring on the pizzas! We let the DCP do their thing and pick our toppings on both pies - both were delicious.
Once we finished off our three spritzer carafes - we moved onto the Mountain Mules - so, so good.
The Mountain Mule is made with celery+cucumber tito's vodka, lime and ginger beer.
V refreshing and my fav cocktail on the DCP menu!
We enjoyed our mules at DCP’s beautiful wrap around rectangular bar.
For dessert, we were able to try the nutella pie & lord help us readers - we inhaled this dessert masterpiece lol - nutella and ricotta goodness that we will order time and time again when we dine here!
DCP's regular business hours are Monday through Wednesday 4pm-10pm, Thursday and Friday 12pm-10pm, Saturday 11am-11pm and Sunday 11am-9pm.
DC PIE CO has also extended their lunch service to Thursdays and Fridays starting at 12pm with new menu items like the summer salad with candied garlic, grapes and pistachios, and the fresh bufala mozzarella & tomato. The menu boasts as many salad options as pizza toppings to please meat-eaters and vegetarians alike ranging from crisp slices of pepperoni to imported Italian artichoke hearts, spiced sausage and juicy portabella mushrooms, all delivered fresh daily. And of course, the staples remain, like the pepperoni chips, baked wings drizzled in sweet hot sauce or the juicy all-beef meatballs served with homemade spiced ricotta in DC PIE CO.’s homemade sauce. Everything is cooked to order in the brick oven, imported from Italy, a centerpiece of the space.
The pizzeria holds happy hour every day, Monday through Friday from 4-6pm, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm-6pm. All their Happy Hour Draft Beer is $5 and Specialty Cocktails are $8. Happy Hour eats include Wings $8, Meatballs $7, Pepperoni Chips $5 and Specialty Salads $8.
DC Pie also hosts a special Monday through Wednesday: a Brooklyn pie and a bottle of wine for $24. A percentage of all profits are donated to the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Yes please to ALL of the above.
Huge thanks to DCP for hosting denv.her. and friends once again - can’t wait to see your DCP pizza faces readers! #nomnom & good luck!
