Texts from Last Night. Installment 1.
Vent Sesh #8 here and going strong! Over 18.3K views denv.her babes and thank you for coming back for more!
I wanted to share the below text I received with you all:
….yikes, right?
I didn’t respond because what does one even say to a text like that lol? “New phone. Who dis?” Or something humorous like “Statistically speaking, 3-4 looking at past years’ data.” And even if I did respond, what would come out of it? I can answer that; just more negativity. One nasty text leading to another and honestly, at the age of 25, I don’t have time to deal with this anymore. I’m done. There’s so many other important things to focus on.
We’re in our mid 20’s people. You don’t like someone? Cool. Just don’t have anything to do with them; we’re not in school anymore. You’re not forced to be in class or in a sorority with someone you don’t like, so simply part ways. There’s no need to go out of your way to put someone down and send a nasty text. What’s the point?
So what was the outcome of that text? Clarity. Clarity on how empowering choosing not to engage with negative people can be. Not responding to that text felt damn good. I actively made the decision to not engage in something ugly and I can confidently say I saved myself some grief in the process.
For those of you who know me, that’s a big step lol. It can be really hard to hold your tongue when someone says something offensive, but try it out sometime. There’s something incredibly satisfying in knowing you’re out and about doing your own thing & what is this individual worrying about?
YOU.
That’s right. If someone has the time to write you a rude text, especially about a current venture you’ve taken up, you know they’re thinking about you. What’s more, you know they’re reading. Hey girl hey!
Now that begs the question as to why? Why is someone worried about someone who they haven’t communicated with in months? Why would someone be prompted to send a nasty text? I’ve thought long and hard on this one and I believe I found the answer in the quote below:
“That’s the best revenge of all: happiness. Nothing drives people crazier than seeing someone have a good f**king life” – Chuck Palahniuk
YES CHUCK PALAHNIUK. YES. YES. YES.
That quote is EVERYTHING you guys. And taking that quote to heart lately, there is nothing I do better than revenge (thanks T Swift for the bomb lyric). I AM HAPPY. 2016 was an incredible and beautiful year and 2017 will be even better. You know why? Because I work my butt off to make it that way. Mindset is everything guys. You want to be happy? Be happy. You want the job? Go get it. You want more money? Work for it. You want the guy? Go get him. You want to start a blog? DO IT. You have the power to make it that way; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
So once and for all, forget about the haters and focus on YOU. Negative people have a way of digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole of self-pity; don’t let them drag you down. They’ll sling mud, and send you nasty texts but ultimately, who the f**k cares?
Certainly not me lol and you shouldn’t either.
I implore everyone reading to take the following advice to heart:
“Don’t get mad. Don’t get even. Do better. Much better. Rise above. Become so engulfed in your own success that you forget it ever happened.” – Donald Driver
So to all the haters out there trying to get someone down: Watch us get better. Watch us do better. Send us negative texts all day long because while you’re over there stressing about what we’re doing, we’re over here, building our EMPIRES.
